What a 120 minute timer is good for

One hundred and twenty minutes, two full hours, is a common length for feature films and final exams. It is a big block of time, and a visual countdown helps break it into parts you can manage.

A feature film

Most feature films run between ninety and one hundred and twenty minutes, so this is a useful screen time limit for a film night.

A long exam

Many school and university exams last two hours. Practise to time with the disc in view.

A revision block

Two hours of revision with a short break at the halfway point is a solid morning’s work.

A slow roast

A two kilogram joint of pork or lamb roasts in about two hours at a moderate temperature.

To pace yourself, glance at the disc rather than the numbers. With the 120 minute timer running, half the colour has gone after 1 hour, and when only a quarter is left you have 30 minutes to wrap up. Open fullscreen if the timer needs to be read across a room, and add a label so everyone knows what the 120 minutes are for.

How to use the 120 minute timer

  1. It is ready

The dial is already set to 120 minutes. To change it, drag the disc, tap a preset or open Custom.

  2. Press Start

Or press the Space bar. The red disc shrinks back towards 12 o’clock as the time runs down.

  3. Watch the disc

Read the time left at a glance, or open fullscreen for a big dial that fills the screen.

  4. Time’s up

Your alarm plays until you press Stop. Press Reset or R to run the same time again.
